How do I respond to the ESEA Now! Call to Action?

If your member of Congress serves on the House Education and the Workforce Committee or the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, we need you to contact your members to urge him/her to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act NOW!  In addition to writing a letter or making a phone call to your member, we encourage you to request a face to face meeting in their district office during their scheduled constituent work weeks.

Use our sample letter and send it immediately – write to your members on the House Education and the Workforce Committee here or on the Senate HELP committee here.

If your member of Congress does not serve on the House or Senate education committees, please contact your member of Congress to request that he/she write a letter to their colleagues who serve on those committees urging that ESEA is reauthorized now.  You can write to your member immediately here

Please participate in at least 2-3 activities as outlined below under Recommended Activities and you may have other ideas to generate support for reauthorizing ESEA now.  School boards must urge Congress to move on a bill that must be improved and not “shelved” for the next new Congress to address.  School board members must also get the message out to their community to show the negative impact not reauthorizing the bill is having on their local public schools.
