Oklahoma Voucher Program
The
Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarship for Students with Disabilities was enacted in 2010 and enrolls 10 students for the 2010-2011 school year. Eligible students must have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and attended a public school in the state the previous year. Each voucher is worth either an amount equivalent to the local and state public school funding for each child (considering grade and disability) or tuition and fees charged by the private school, whichever is less.
In May 2011, the Oklahoma Equal Opportunity Education Scholarship Act was signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin. It that created an individual and corporate tax credit program for donations to organizations that provide vouchers for private school tuition, fees and transportation to low-income, special needs students and students attending “persistently failing schools.” The program is capped at $5 million.
