Training Materials

These training resources may be useful to you in Key Work Training sessions. Each resource document is authored and provided by Joseph S. Villani, NSBA Deputy Executive Director, who used them in recent training sessions in several states.

Dr. Villani  first showed and explained The Key Work of School Boards via his PowerPoint presentation. After discussion, he asked the group to divide into 7-8 member teams and assigned each team to a table.  Dr. Villani then asked the teams to provide one year of meeting agendas that would include local school board discussion topics for each Key Work area. He demonstrated a meeting agenda around the key area Vision using the Sample Agenda worksheet below.

After each team discussed each Key Work area, Dr. Villani asked them to document their ideas and share them with a nearby table. After allowing time for this discussion, Dr. Villani asked each table to provide a calendar plan indicating precisely when they would implement the proposed agendas in their district meetings.
