Understanding the Common Core Standards
Most of the states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands have adopted the Common Core standards, and tests based on these standards are set to go into effect in 2015. This webinar from the Center for Public Education explains the basics; links to important common core standards resources are also provided.

These state school boards associations have published official standards for local school board governance.

National Policy Board for Educational Administration
The National Policy Board for Educational Administration is a national consortium of major organizations concerned with educational leadership and policy, including NSBA. The group is working to develop a set of Educational Leadership Policy Standards that will serve as a national model for states.

Achieve
Created in 1996 by the nation's governors and corporate leaders, Achieve is an independent, bipartisan organization that helps state raise academic standards and graduation requirements, improve assessments and strengthen accountability.
