School Safety Alert Partnership
NSBA School Safety Alert Partnership with Consumer Reports
Previously recalled products are one of the top hidden hazards in the home. Most product recall information never reaches a family until tragedy strikes. Tens of millions of children are needlessly exposed to unsafe products, toys and foods that have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). To address this problem, Consumer Reports has partnered with the National PTA and the National School Boards Association to form the School Safety Alert Program. This program will alert parents, school administrators, and educators immediately to imminent dangers and allow them to remove potentially dangerous and even lethal products from their homes and schools. We urge you to share this information with every parent, family, educator, school and school board.
The National School Boards Association is hoping your district will join in this important mission of protecting children and help us to reach every home and school. We encourage you to add the information below to your school district’s website and invite individual schools to do the same. We also encourage you to include it in e-newsletters and all other available channels to reach families.
Go to www.consumerreports.org/schoolsafety for vital safety alert and recall information to keep children safe – and please copy, paste and disseminate the message and link below onto your own school and school district websites and newsletters to help us all work together for child safety.
