Assessment, Data Management and Teacher Effectiveness
Performance Matters offers a comprehensive, integrated student assessment, data management and teacher effectiveness solution that empowers educators at all levels – board of education, administration, and teachers to answer the two most important questions in education, “Are our students learning?” "Are our educational practices effective?" A unique “point and click” filtering process enables educators to continuously analyze and synthesize the relationships between student performance, classroom observation results and educator activities at all levels:
- Content area
- NCLB accountability groups
- Locally defined subgroups.
Unlike many reporting systems, Performance Matters does not simply store and report the information in separate data silos. The system gives users the capacity to connect national, state and local data to provide a sharper view of student and school achievement as well as to monitor ongoing leading indicators such as local assessments, grades, discipline and other measures throughout the year. Local assessments can be developed at the district level and at the teacher level through access to an extensive item and test bank in Performance Matters or utilizing district-owned content. All local data is incorporated in the system together with the state data.
At the teacher level, the flexible Performance Matters system monitors individual student progress, provides item and content analysis, and informs and improves instruction. District and teacher assessments can be conducted online, through electronic input devices, or via the traditional paper and pencil format. Timely feedback on student performance is provided to teacher and principal in an online environment. At the administrative level, the system tracks student readiness for high stakes accountability tests and informs leadership on the effectiveness of instructional interventions. At the school board level, Performance Matters provides clear reports to inform and engage the public as well as data to inform decision making and to help determine return on investment.
