CUBE Annual Award for Urban Education Excellence - Previous Winners

2012 Winner: Washoe County School District, Nevada
Nevada's Washoe County School District was the winner of the ninth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence.Maryland's Baltimore City Public Schools and Prince George's County Public Schools were recognized as award finalists. 

2011 Winner: Mesquite Independent School District, Texas
Texas' Mesquite Independent School District was the winner of the eighth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence.Massachusetts' Boston Public Schools and Nevada's Washoe County School District were recognized as award finalists.

2010 Winner: Baltimore City Schools, Baltimore, Md.
Maryland's Baltimore City Schools was the winner of the seventh CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Florida's Broward County Public Schools, Texas' Houston Independent School District, and Virginia's Portsmouth City Schools were selected as finalists for the award.

2009 Winner: Atlanta Public Schools, Ga.
Georgia's Atlanta Public Schools was the winner of the sixth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Florida's Broward County Public Schools was selected as the finalist for the award. Maryland's Baltimore City Schools, North Carolina's Wake County Public School System, and Kentucky's Jefferson County Public Schools were recognized for progress and leadership, respectively.

2008 Winner: Brownsville Independent School District, Texas
Texas' Brownsville Independent School District, was the winner of the fifth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Nebraska's Omaha Public Schoolsand the  California's Chula Vista Elementary School District were selected as finalists for the award.

2007 Joint Winners: Houston Independent School District, Texas and Miami-Dade Public Schools, Fla.
Texas' Houston Independent School District and Florida's Miami-Dade County Public Schools were selected as joint winners of the fourth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Texas' Fort Worth Independent School District was selected as a finalist for the award.

2006 Winner: Norfolk Public Schools, Va.
Virginia's Norfolk Public Schools was the winner of the third CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Texas' Houston Independent School District and Florida's Miami-Dade County Public Schools were selected as finalists of the award.

2005 Winner: School District of Hillsborough County, Fla.
Florida's School District of Hillsborough County was the winner of the second CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Virginia's Norfolk Public Schools and Texas' San Antonio Independent School District were selected as finalists for the award.

2004 Winner: Boston School Committee, Mass.
Massachusetts' Boston School Committee was selected as the winner of the first CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. California's Chula Vista Elementary School District and Virginia's Norfolk Public Schools were selected as finalists for the award.
