CUBE 2012 Issues Seminar
Dates: July 26-28, 2012
Location: Columbia University Teachers College, New York, NY
Topic: Innovation and Leadership for Today's Urban Schools
Preparing students to meet the demands of a constantly changing world presents today’s school board members with unique policy challenges. Nowhere is this more evident than in the nation’s urban school districts, where the increase in racial, ethnic and cultural diversity in America is reflected in every school and in each classroom. Urban schools are charged with teaching students the skills they need to keep America competitive, but at the same time, these schools are held responsible for addressing the effects of socio-economic disparities on student achievement.
Participants at the 2012 CUBE Issues Seminar heard the perspectives of expert speakers. In addition, they were able to share their own viewpoints with colleagues, and with urban school superintendents gathered at Columbia University for the prestigious annual Superintendents Work Conference, which was held for the first time in conjunction with the CUBE Issues Seminar.
