CUBE Issues Forum & Congressional Luncheon

February 2 & 5, 2008
Washington, DC

The CUBE Issues Forum and Congressional Luncheon was held in conjunction with NSBA’s Federal Relations Network Conference in Washington, D.C. early February of this year.

At the 2008 CUBE Issues Forum on February 2, attendees participated in discussions  on the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent 5-4 decision which struck down racial aspects of student assignment plans in Seattle, WA and Louisville, KY. Representatives from Jefferson County Public Schools, Seattle Public Schools, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund were present.

On February 5, CUBE members had the opportunity to discuss the education priorities for the second session of the 110th Congress with Senior Education Policy Advisor to Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy (D-MA), Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
