Wake Up Call: Impact of Health Issues on Urban School Children
Health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and HIV/AIDS are disproportionately high among racial, ethnic and low-income populations. As diversity grows within public schools, so does the need to address health disparities through policies and programs. Participants learned about health issues in a data-driven and coordinated way, and steps school policy makers can take to lead effective action on these challenges. This session was provided in cooperation with NSBA’s School Health Programs Department.
