CUBE Issues Forum & Congressional Luncheon
The CUBE Issues Forum was held in conjunction with NSBA’s Federal Relations Network Conference in Washington, DC on February 4, 2006.
CUBE members participated in the Issues Forum, a networking reception held at the Smithsonian National American Indian Museum, and a Congressional Luncheon with Congressman George Miller (D-CA), the Ranking Member of the Education and the Workforce Committee, U.S. House of Representatives.
Highlights from the Congressionl Luncheon held on February 7, 2006
Congressman Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) delivered the opening speech during the CUBE Issues Forum on February 4 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. More than 120 school board members listened to Congressman Grijalva discuss federal education issues impacting urban students, especially children of poverty, and gave a forecast of the education legislation planned for the second session of the 109th Congress. He was followed by Dr. Nancy Cauthen, Deputy Director of the National Center for Children in Poverty; Francisco Negrón, NSBA’s General Counsel; and Reginald Felton, NSBA’s Director of Federal Relations.
