Timely Information on National Issues

Current information relevant to school boards is provided to local school board members so that they can stay aware of issues and therefore make informed decisions. These publications and newsletters are provided free of charge to National Affiliates.

  • American School Board Journal is an award-winning, education magazine published monthly by the National School Boards Association. Founded in 1891, American School Board Journal chronicles change, interprets issues, and offers readers—some 50,000 school board members and school administrators—practical advice on a broad range of topics pertinent to school governance and management, policy making, student achievement, and the art of school leadership.
  • School Board News Today, an online publication of NSBA, provides timely and relevant stories and analysis from NSBA and other news outlets to school board members, administrators, and others interested in K-12 education.
  • Leadership Insider - National Affiliates receive four issues of the Leadership Insider newsletter each year. Leadership Insider is designed for decision makers that are looking for in-depth articles on a wide variety of current and provocative policy and school law-related topics. It is published by NSBA for school districts that are members of the NSBA National Affiliate program and distributed as a supplement to American School Board Journal.
  • Urban Advocate is a quarterly newsletter and Urban Edge is an e-newsletter created for Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) districts. CUBE is the urban arm of the National Affiliate program.  To learn more about the CUBE program and the benefits of participating visit the CUBE homepage.
  • Legislative and Legal updates sent via email weekly and on an as needed basis.
  • Special reports and publications on key education issues.
  • Custom research requests via NSBA’s Library Research Service: a full-time research librarian is only a phone call away to assist National Affiliate's with specific research requests.
