Pascack Valley Regional High School District in Montvale, NJ
The Pascack Valley Regional High School District is a commuting suburb of New York City, located in the northeast corner of New Jersey. The district is home to several North American headquarters for corporations such as A&P, Benjamin Moore, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Sony. Our two high schools, Pascack Valley High School and Pascack Hills High School educate 2,000 students from independent K-8 districts in the municipalities of Hillsdale, Montvale, River Vale, and Woodcliff Lake.
This is the seventh year of the district’s “1:1 eLearning Initiative” in which the district provides each student and teacher with a laptop. Your visit to the two high schools will focus primarily on how our district has successfully integrated technology into our high school curriculum, with an emphasis on web 2.0 collaborative tools. In addition, you will learn how our district included various stakeholders when developing our 1:1 initiative, pitfalls to avoid when providing every student with a laptop, how the district assesses the program, how technology supports the learning experience outside the classroom walls, and an overview of the ever-important investment in ongoing professional development.
The district relies heavily on its supportive community and dedicated and professional staff to provide its students with opportunities to become successful 21st century learners. Of particular importance is the commitment to transforming teaching and learning through the use of a variety of technologies. Coupled with effective, ongoing, teacher-facilitated professional development, the district has brought engaging and exciting 21st century educational resources and experiences to every student.
