Township High School District 214 was ranked second in the nation in the 2012 Digital School District Surveys. Named a 2000 Technology Leadership Network Salute District, District 214 earned NSBA’s Salute Trailblazer Award in 2010 for continuing to set high standards for technology integration in education.

Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, District 214 is located approximately 25 miles northwest of Chicago. It is larger in area than the city of St. Louis and serves about 250,000 residents in eight communities. Comprised of six high schools and four alternative programs, District 214 is the second largest high school district in Illinois with a total enrollment of approximately 12,300 students.

District 214 utilizes a cloud computing infrastructure to support learning in the 21st century and beyond. With the Board of Education’s full support, technology has been integrated throughout instruction and operations, and the articulation with seven elementary feeder school districts has strengthened the technology skills of students moving into high school. Through the use of innovative technology programs, such as those listed below, resources are used more effectively, teaching tools are enhanced, and costs have been reduced.

Also, by using technology solutions to enhance all students’ learning opportunities, student achievement is reaching new heights in District 214. The school district is committed to achieving three multi-year instructional goals—decrease achievement gap of all student NCLB subgroups, increase student success rate as measured by As, Bs, and Cs, and increase number of students taking and passing AP courses. Due to this laser-like focus combined with a robust technology program, growth on ACT assessments has increased 28% within the past 10 years, the number of successful AP tests per student has doubled since 2005 and is over 2-1/2 times more than 10 years ago, and Ds and Fs are down by more than 20% since 2006.
