Advocacy Pays Off

Every time a new administration comes into the White House, or a new member of Congress takes their seat, the NSBA Advocacy staff must adapt to new legislation and the newly created environment.  This year has been no different. The NSBA Advocacy staff began by having meetings with the Obama transition team, and things have not slowed down since. Our staff members have made multiple trips to the Hill and held many conversations with the Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and his team.  There is a lot to do and we are working for you to ensure that your needs and requirements are being met.

This issue of Electronic School is focused on the impact your participation in Technology Leadership Network has on new and existing legislation currently before Congress.  A percentage of your fee for Technology Leadership Network participation goes directly to support NSBA’s advocacy efforts. In this issue we are highlighting some of the activities that will directly impact your role in your district.

On October 14 we will be hosting a webinar as a follow-up to this publication.  Deborah Rigsby and Lucy Gettman, members of NSBA’s advocacy staff, will share their insights about legislation being considered or implemented during this current school year.  Please join us by registering for this webinar today!  There is no cost for this webinar for TLN participating school districts.
