"Digital Media for Student Engagement & Success"
21st century skills come to life in the Escondido Union School District! Learn how the award-winning educators at EUSD are fostering critical thinking and visual literacy skills through the use of digital media with their 19,000, ethnically diverse K-8 students. Project LIVE (Learning through Instructional Video in Education) supports teachers as they develop the skills they need to ensure digital tools are contributing to measurable gains in student achievement and creating an engaging environment that offers increased opportunities for students to become problem-solvers and collaborators.

LEGOLAND® Tour & Box Lunch
"Using Robotics to Support S.T.E.M. Initiatives"
Learn how robotics can make Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) content come alive for your students! The afternoon will include informative presentations from academic leaders to help you understand the educational value of robotics while also providing you with a hands-on robotics experience in an engaging and stimulating atmosphere (even if you're a technophobe!). See real examples of how an instructor uses robotics to teach core concepts and conclude your visit with time to explore the 128-acre LEGOLAND® Park specifically designed for youngsters ages 2 through 12. With over 50 family rides, "hands-on" attractions and shows, LEGOLAND® California provides education, adventure and fun in this first park of its kind in the United States.

San Diego Zoo Educational Visit & Lunch
"Behind the Scenes at the San Diego Zoo: Virtual Field Trips and Other Ways to Connect Students to Wildlife"
The San Diego Zoo has more than 4,000 animals and 800 different species. Millions of visitors come through the gates each year but students all over the world can take a virtual trip to the Zoo via videoconference. Experience your own virtual field trip with a videoconference link to the Zoo's sister site, the Wild Animal Park. School in the Park - an innovative partnership between the Zoo, San Diego State University, Weingart-Price Charities, and two public elementary schools - uses iPods to develop science vocabulary for English language learners. Discover how your teachers can get involved in the Zoo's summer professional development institute or get your students connected throughout the year to young bloggers in the Zoo's InternQuest program. A highlight of the day will include a two-hour private tour with professional Zoo educators and behind-the-scenes opportunities, plus a little free time to explore on your own!
